By using LinguaCommons you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to pay: the entire site is open to read.

We ask only that you do not attempt to break, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the site or its infrastructure, do not scrape it in a way that degrades it for other readers, and do not use the contact form to send unlawful or abusive material.

We take accuracy seriously. Claims are traceable to sources, every source is listed in the Bibliography, and we do not fabricate translations or invent data for languages with little documentation.

Even so, LinguaCommons is offered as is, without warranty of any kind. Much of the material is produced with AI assistance and human review, as we say plainly on the About page, and the site is in active development. Errors will exist. Nothing here is professional, legal, medical, immigration, or certified linguistic advice, and it is not a substitute for a qualified teacher, a native speaker, or an accredited course. Do not rely on it for a decision that matters without checking it independently — and if you find a mistake, please tell us.

The guides, articles, decks, and other original material on this site are the copyright of LinguaCommons. No public reuse licence has been granted yet, so the ordinary position applies: quoting a short passage with attribution and a link is fine and welcome, and republishing substantial portions elsewhere needs our permission first. If you want to use something in a classroom, a course, or a project, just ask — the answer is usually yes.

Material we did not create keeps its own terms. Cited sources belong to their authors and publishers; images and flags carry the credits recorded in the Bibliography.

Flags appear on this site purely as visual markers for language groups. They do not indicate statehood, nationality, ethnicity, or any political or governmental affiliation, and no such claim should be read into them.

We link to outside dictionaries, tools, and reading material, and we offer a full-page automatic translation that hands you to Google Translate. We do not control those destinations, we do not review their content on an ongoing basis, and we are not responsible for them. Machine-translated pages in particular are generated by Google, not by us, and may be wrong in ways we cannot see or correct.

We do not guarantee that the site will be available without interruption, that content will remain at a fixed address, or that any particular guide or feature will continue to exist. Material may be revised, superseded, or withdrawn as the project develops.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, LinguaCommons is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, this site or anything you found on it. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, in which case only the limitations permitted where you live apply to you, and nothing in these terms removes a right you hold under law that cannot be waived.

These terms may change as the site grows. The date at the top records the last revision. Continuing to use LinguaCommons after a change means you accept the revised terms.
